José A. Martínez-Casasnovas is Agricultural Engineer (Polytechnic University of Catalonia, 1989) and Master in Geographic Information Systems for Rural Applications (ITC and University of Wageningen, The Netherlands, 1994), with distinction Honorary and Award of the Wageningen University Foundation. In 1998 he obtained the title of Doctor of Agronomic Engineering (University of Lleida, UdL), with mention of European Doctorate and Extraordinary Doctorate Award. Since 1994 he is a professor at the UdL (Higher Technical School of Agricultural Engineering) (http://www.macs.udl.cat/es/personal/pdi/jmartinez/). Since November 2010 it is Full Professor and since March 2016 Director of the Department of Environment and Soil Sciences of the UdL. His scientific activity in the last 26 years has been related to the application of geoinformation technologies in: a) agriculture of precision, b) soil mapping, c) land evaluation for agricultural uses, c) changes in land use and d) mapping and Water erosion modeling. This activity has been developed as a member of two research groups: "AgroITC and Precision Agriculture" (GRAP, http://www.grap.udl.cat/en/) and" Soils and Water" (recognized as quality research groups by the Generalitat of Catalunya). J.A. Martínez-Casasnovas is the author/co-author of more than 60 articles in journals indexed in SCI-JCR in the field of Precision Agriculture,Soil Sciences, Earth Sciences, GIS and Remote Sensing.

Jaume Arnó Satorra is Agronomy Engineer (Polithechnic University of Catalonia, 1990). He worked John Deere Ibérica, S.A. (Marketing department). In October 1991 he joined as a Full-time associate professor in the Animal Production and Agroforestry Engineering Department of the UPC (now the Department of Agroforestry Engineering of the University of Lleida, UdL), where he has held various teaching positions until today. In 2008, obtained the PhD degree with a thesis about Intra-field variability in vineyards and the potential use of LiDAR sensors in viticulture. Currently he teachs Precision Agriculture and agricultural mechanization. He has been head of department (2013-2016) and, at present, is Head of Quality and Coordination Studies at the School of Agrifood and Forestry Science and Engineering (ETSEA). In addition, he is currently a member of the Technical Scientific Advisory Committee of the AgroBank Chair Quality and Innovation in the Agrifood Sector. He is member of the "AgroITC and Precision Agriculture" (GRAP, http://www.grap.udl.cat/en/) Research Group. Author of more than 35 articles in referenced journals, he has also co-authored two publications (books) and various dissemination articles, and has contributed with more than 50 communications in different conferences and technical conferences. Recently, his research interests deal with the use of photon-based sensors for the evaluation of the lighting conditions of fruit trees and its incidence in the management of the leaf canopy. He is also interested in managing large databases from soil and crop sensors using advanced modeling techniques and statistical analysis, and in the validation of new sampling schemes in fruit growing using the auxiliary information provided by remote sensing systems and/or ground monitoring.
