The PAgFRUIT team cooperates making protective visors against the coronavirus COVID-19
Download PdfPart of the team of the PAgFRUIT research project, who belong to the Research Group in AgroICT and Precision Agriculture (GRAP) of the University of Lleida-Agrotecnio Center, cooperates making protective visors by 3D printing as part of the protection equipments against the coronavirus COVID-19. This was a request of the Official College of Nurses of Lleida (COILL) and a group of the Telegram messenger network, CV19_FAB_LLEIDA. The GRAP (UdL-Agrotecnio) has installed its 3D printer at the home of the doctoral student Jordi Gené, with whom other members of the GRAP have cooperated to prepare and start the production of the masks. After downloading up to 4 different models of visor and making 12 different types as a sample, they have been evaluated by the Occupational Risk Prevention Technician of the Santa Maria de Lleida University Hospital, who selected the simplest model. This 3D printed protective visor model takes an hour and a half to make. Then you just need to add a rubber band to the head. "From now on, the GRAP printer will be 100% dedicated to printing face protectors for the COILL, at a rate of one protector every 1.5 hours". The first GRAP protective visors have already been delivered to Santa Maria University Hospital, although they will also be used for medical centers, probably primary care, and perhaps for geriatric residences.
